How Long Has It Been Since You Last Rode a Bicycle?

I had to think really hard about this question and I was really surprised to realize that it has been approximately 32 years since I've ridden a bicycle. How long has it been for you?
I'm a walker. I walk everywhere. Occasionally people will ask me why I don't get a bike. Well, the main reason is because I love walking. When walking one can have their entire focus on the world around us. We can fully enjoy and experience the world without having part of our focus on driving. Walking is like meditation to me and operating a vehicle--any vehicle--is a distraction.
Of course, the other reason I don't do bikes is because I have a bum knee from an old war injury and this makes bike riding difficult and painful for me. Walking is not a problem.
So do you still ride bikes? How often? Is it a major source of transportation for you or do you do it only for recreation or exercise? Do you own a bike? Do you have fond memories of learning how to ride a bike? Have you ever taught a child to ride a bike? What is the farthest you've ever ridden a bike? How do you feel about bicycles?

I'm glad to see there is a cyclist at MyLot. Back when I lived in Colorado I knew a lot of cyclists who were wild about it. Have you ever done the Ride the Rockies? That cycling marathon used to come through my town and everyone lined the streets to watch the cyclists whiz by. I think Colorado is a great place for cyclists.

@MKAlubs - I've never done Ride the Rockies. I used to do the Fat Tire Classic in Winter Park every year.

Way to long. 21 years I believe, since I had my bike accident. I did try 2 years ago with my brother and cousin at a bike park. But I did ride and didn't get far. I don't know if I EVER be ready to ride a bike again, unless I have training wheels.

I tried learning how to ride a bicycle 9 some years ago and I still couldn't ride. Didn't like it I guess. I also prefer walking but if I get a partner someday who likes bicycling, I will definitely give it a try again

I didn't think about cycling with others. That's a good point, @waitinghuman . Thanks.

31 years since I have ridden a bike. I do not ride them now. I used to take mine to my favorite lake and ride around.
