I love the changes of the seasons. I have different table clothes for every season and love changing them. I also have different decorations for in front of the house and in different rooms.
When we bought this house in April the previous owners left so many things as they lived in Canada and all the furniture and everything else here was their fathers. He passed away and they didn't want any of the things. We donated everything to Habitat for Humanity except about 4 items.
One item was a great lamp that had a base that was a big globe with an opening in the back of the glass. The people had all kinds of dried flowers in it. I am planning on putting lots of pine cones in that space after taking their flowers out of it. I want to get a change of things for all the different seasons.
Any suggestions for different things to put in it for different seasons?

You can put dried miniature pumpkins and decorative corn in autumn. Easter eggs in spring. For summer you can put inside sand and decorate with shells, dried starfishes, dollar sands. For the moment nothing else comes to my mind. As sand is heavy, you can fill the bottom with sand color cloth and add some sand on the top, just to look more real.

I wanted to get sea shells and sand for the summer but it is so big if I put the sand in it I wouldn't be able to lift it. I could put an artificial center in it and the sand around it to make it look nice and full.
Yes, the pine cones are for the winter. I could put some red material in the center of the whole thing and some pine cones in it here and there.

@ramapo17 Can't put coloured glass pieces or pebbles instead of sand?

@responsiveme I was thinking of stuffing the center of the vase with possible tissue paper and fill up in front of that with either sand or shells. Something will hit me sooner or later.

@hereandthere If I ever get caught up with things I might get to that. My problems is I jump from one thing to another and drive my husband crazy. It takes me forever to finish a project.

I made some miniature pumpkins out of salt dough last year, then painted them a lovely orange. They were quite cute and would've looked nice on display in the globe. I suppose I could've made other miniature fruits as well, items to symbolise the harvest.

We don't have fall season and the only time we decorate our home is when it's halloween and Christmas time.

we don't have four seasons, so we only decorate for christmas. however, observing halloween is becoming more and more common.
i guess they also lacked time so they left the furniture, but it was good of you to donate them.
the lamp with the glass globe sounds interesting. maybe you can buy small pumpkin decorations (made of plastic, ceramic, stuffed?)

@hereandthere I could make some pumpkins to put in it. I just might do that as the orange would be pretty. Plus, I can get some small stuffed black cats to put in it.

I've never really decorated my house for every season... but that's a great idea...
