The 1940s When I was small there was a war, I did not know what it was for, But knew that when an air raid comes To run inside to dodge the bombs. 1950s When first I grew into my teens The newest trend was denim jeans, We had not seen their like before, But now they're here for evermore. This was the time when I'd first see That magic box called a TV, That's when I first heard of Elvis Who shocked my mother with his pelvis. 1960s Then when I was sweet and twenty Loves I had - they were a-plenty, It seems like only yesterday That the sun shone while I made hay Some years later, off on travels To see the world and it's marvels. Then I found the man I wanted Something that I've not regretted. The children came, just one of each, To whom good values we would teach, What joy to us, they turned out well, To have bad kids must be real hell. 1970s/80s/90s Thirty, forty, on to fifty, Even though I was still nifty, It's sad to say 'twas plain to see Those wolf whistles weren't for me 2016 Now I'm ancient, past my prime, I've found out I can do rhyme, I may no more those horses ride, But love for life has never died. Photo is when I was 'sweet and twenty'.

As i read on , i can see that you have now reached that age where experiences of different kinds have made you that strong and happy woman you are today . You were so beautiful when you were still in your 20's . Though , you still are beautiful now , my dear friend .

You amaze me, you really do. I just love the way you put your decades to poetry like this, I even read it aloud to my hubby, who smiled as I read it. I suppose that I am near the end of your poem here, and my life is currently nifty.

@miniam I don't know about you, but when I was young I never thought I was good-looking. Looking back at the photos I can see that I wasn't too bad, but I didn't appreciate it at the time. They do say that youth is wasted on the young. Anyway, thank you for being so kind, but though I am in reasonable shape for my age, the good looks have long gone. It doesn'tbother me.

@Ceerios I've seen that site mentioned here too, and the fact that it gets the thumbs up from you is encouraging. I doubt that I'd have the time for another site, but I may take a look. That's interesting about turning the photos over, very ingenious. Glad the e-book is progressing.

@jaboUK - Ms Janet - Right-on, Good Friend. I suppose that I will now have to look through all of my old files here to see if I can find the photo someone made of me when I was back in the first grade in school - dressed up like a "Tyrolian" kid with "lederhosen" and a peaky cap with a feather stuck onto it. I will see what I can do about that. Finally got this computer deal back onto the Internet after its troubles of the last day or two. Turned out that the phone company connections to this old house had corroded to the point where the signals would just not traverse them. (And I had believed that the company was angry with me for being late paying my bill last month,,,) Saw a post here on the MyLot that mentioned another posting website, Niume. Went there and saw that the contents were mostly very interesting and also very categorized - probably ten different "spheres," as they call them. Looked at some. really fun looking. Give Niume.com a try when you have time. It is HQd in the UK, so maybe it is right around the corner from your own location. Which gave rise to a thought just now that I had about photos. You know how I like to play games with pictures of ordinary stuff, but lots of the results of that playing cause my pix to be unrecognizable as to the original source photos. Then I remembered that the little Canon color printer here will make pix on both sides of the photographic paper - like the original on one side and the crazy stuff on the other side. Get tired of looking at one? Just turn it over. That way both p;ix can be twice the size of the two pix being portrayed as a collage on one side of the paper. Better detail that way. Enough of this inventing and other kinds of venting. Grow young - but not fat. My advice for the day. -Gus- Making some progress on my e-Book project. Let you know when there is a copy ready for you and the rest of the world.
