I have read an article that says about other investors are moving out after series of rants coming from the Philippine President. This probably from rants against Obama, the Press (int'l and local), and finally, the EU.
Unfortunately, I couldn't find that said article as I attempt it back. But from the page were the article was link, a local investor countered that politics had little effect on the trading sector.
I wonder why business would go bad when criminals, specially those from drug related crimes are being decimated. Not to mention corruption in the Government agencies are being track down.
I wonder if some of these business who pulled out were also connected to drugs.
The honeymoon period of Philippine president Rodrigo Duterte appears to be over as foreign investors become wary over his acid-tongued remarks.

I am a stock investor since 2008 and I invest at PSEI so I think I can explain. Anyway, the thing with investors specifically foreign investors is that they don't want too much challenges to the prevailing economic order. Duterte's re-architecture of the Philippine's foreign policy based on his comments does pose some challenges to the prevailing economic order which explains their uncertainty.

They shouldn't be afraid @lealuvy2j since he's going after criminals the best way he can I think. Not to mention he's also chasing corrupt officials, the media simply like to twist the issue here.

@Letranknight2015 With investing, you have to check all the risks. And staying with uncertainties looming around is like gambling and seasoned investors don't like to gamble.

Hello @skysnap I believe the economy can still be saved, not to mention his dedication for so many people in my country that doesn't have to be victims.

I don't actually find your president to be a considerate and most of all, diplomatic with his speech. I am sure he should know better than to "chew" on his supporting allies. It is probably his lack of self control here that is bringing about many ill-confidence in foreign investment and vested interest.

I think he's only trying to tell the other nations not to be hypocrite to our situation as it happens to other countries @artemeis But I do agree with you and that's why I pity his own communication or PR team because they couldn't contain his words.

@acelawrites Maybe the country did vote for the right leader and for so many years, we've always been looked down upon.

@Letranknight2015 it is his mouth that is the problem! But his advocacies are good; he has the political will to do it. Am not a Duterte fan and did not vote for him, but now I can see what kind of a leader he is.

The tongue is like a ship's rudder, it's a small part but it could steer a large ship either to safety or aground

That's a very high possibility @brokenbee or some are just misinformed or it's got nothing to do with what's happening in the country
