Yeah you read that right, the world's first analog computer was made by Greek Scientists in 205 B.C. Called the Antikythera Mechanism it was used to predict astronomical positions and eclipses by sailors for navigational purposes. This artifact was lost in the sea wreck near the greek island and has been recently discovered. If it would have never been lost even jesus would have a computer of his own!!! Such strange things do happen in the world.. What do you think about it.

More a mechanical calculating machine than a computer. We have had mechanical adding machines since centuries, and they never permitted to discover computers, like we understand this word today. Greeks have invented a lot of things though : Hero of Alexandria presented a steam engine, but Greeks considered it like a scientific game, not like something with a practical use.

The Egyptians also had a lot more technology than we give them credit for.

thank you for posting about this as it is the very first time I've seen this device. Amazing contraption from an age of discovery before the dark ages. Glad someone found it.
