Linda Ronstadt, Last Night I Dreamed

I dreamed my friends, daughter and I were at a Linda Ronstadt concert. This will never happen again because this wonderful woman can no longer sing, due to her Parkinson's Disease. I have spent my adult life worshipping Linda's voice and it makes me sad she can't sing anymore. She wasn't just extremely talented, but she's a good human being, in my estimation. Thanks for all the years your voice expressed what I was feeling, Linda. I learned all your songs, but could never in a million years sing like you. I'm not sure what my discussion point is. Are there any singers or bands you miss a lot?

No it's Parkinson's. She did an interview about it, made me so sad. She also has an autobiography out, but I haven't read it yet. It's on my Christmas wish list.

What a wonderful dream that must have been. Linda Ronstadt had an amazing voice and was such a great talent. Sad how things ended up for her.

I didn't realize that she had Parkinson's. That is so sad to hear. My grandpa had it.

That's a shame. My dad's hands shake like mad, but after studies they say it's not Parkinson's. He takes a lot of meds and it may be a side effect.

I think of her often too. I first heard her on an LA folk station back in the 1960s when she sang "Different Drum" with the Stone Poneys (sp). Mike Nesmith, one of the Monkees on TV wrote that great song. I have the double album of ballads she did years later with Nelson Riddle.

I have most of her albums. You spelled Stone Poneys correctly. I remember when she was on Hee Haw and sang Lovesick Blues, it was awesome. I think the first time I saw her on TV it was on The Smothers Brothers and she sang "Don't It Make You Wanna Go Home" so beautifully. I was hooked from then on. Might not have been that show, but I remember the performance.

@JamesHxstatic especially loved Pete Seeger's performances on that. Waist Deep in the Big Muddy
Aired on CBS at the height of the Vietnam War, this was cut out of the show at the last minute.

It's so sad that she can no longer sing. What a beautiful voice. I miss The Beatles, of course. I wonder what they would be doing together had they stayed together? I'm still so amazed by The Rolling Stones and how they've continued through the years.

I don't know where Jagger gets the energy. I sure don't have that anymore. But I was never that energetic really, lol. H eputs everything into that performance.

@CinnamonGrl I know! I saw the Stones in concert a few years ago and Jagger just amazed me! Even then, I couldn't do what he does. Paul McCartney and Ringo are still touring, as well, and I imagine that John and George would be, too, if they were still alive. I would have been so interesting to me to hear what the Fab Four could create together all these years later!

I miss the old 90s and 70s music vibe! Music of that time seemed so much better and had way more meaning to them! It was like more passionate back then!

There is sitll good music out there, but for me it's a matter of having to dig for it. I would love to hear some of your music.

I wasn't aware that she had Parkinson's but since my husband has it I know how it affects the voice.

The one I have on my playlist is 'It's so easy." A wonderful, raunchy voice

She was able to sing a lot of songs normally sung by men, with the same lyrics, and yet sell them the same way they would. She sang "Carmelita" about being "all strung out on heroin on the outskirts of town" and make you think it could be true. So expressive.
