Pleasure or Pressure

Singapore

These two words sound very similar especially if you say them fast. However, the meaning of each word is totally different. Pleasure is nice to have but pressure is not. For example, it gives me great pleasure to know you. I can see that your child is under a lot of pressure to excel in his studies. Which would you rather be? Having pleasure or pressure in your life? I think the answer is obvious. Can you think of similar pair of words that have this sort of opposite effect?

There is nothing specific that comes to my mind, same sound different meaning flour and flower, maid and made, sale and sail, but none of them has an opposite effect.

@LadyDuck Those are good examples of same sound but different meaning. I can only think of another pair with almost same sound but have opposite meaning: emigrate and immigrate. I wonder if other myLotters know of any other pair.

I noticed some english native speakers are incorrectly using THERE and THEIR. Sometimes I also type WASTE instead of WAIST and FRAUD instead of PROUD and realize my mistakes after. OMG!
