Family: Drama, Drama, Drama

I feel family causes more drama in your life oppose to the ones you may create on your own, they are inconsiderate, selfish and heartaches. It refrains you of having friendship, and relationship with people, because at times you are so fixated on family drama. Do anyone agree or have suggestions on how we can break this cycle of family drama?

Yeah, every family has their own dramas no matter how perfect they may seem from the outside...

It's unbreakable, just like the love we have for our family. I just realized yesterday that I've taken a break from mine (for only about a week). Struggling with my writing has me so preoccupied. But during the last conversation I had with my aunt/godmother, I let it slip that her granddaughter announced her marriage on Facebook. I thought it was funny, my aunt did not. I am sure there's a lot of behind the scenes Family Drama going on now. I'll touch base next week.

Oh my that is crazy, but at the end of day, it probably hurt that her granddaughter didn't tell her, and had to hear from third party, she has things she need to discuss with her granddaughter now. For you try to refrain from it coming back to you and being in the middle of that, you prob thought she would have known about it.

@Sexyrose40. No, I really thought it was funny. When people announce important developments on Facebook, it makes me shake my head and laugh. And my family has thick skin, they laugh at my missteps all the time.

It is true. I fix the drama but getting rid of the family who causes nothing but drama. I am not into drama at all. I alwasy warn first. Call me bluff and that will be the last time you speak to me. There are certain things I will not tolerate, not even from family. If they crossed the line. I cut of contact.

If you wouldn't tolerate that sort of behavior from a person who's not related to you, why put up with it from someone just because they happen to share more DNA with you than the rest of the general population? Sometimes the best thing that you can do for your own mental and physical health is break the ties with the toxic individuals in your life. I've done it with some of my own toxic relatives who abused me for years. Some people here don't agree with my choice to cut those people off, but taking the time to step back and reevaluate my relationship with the racist, Islamophobic bigots that raised me was the best thing that I've ever done. Life's a lot better without their unnecessary drama in it. You might benefit from lurking on the DWIL Nation board over on Babycenter if you're looking for ways to manage your relationships with the drama mongers in your life. They're blunt and tend to draw hard lines when it comes to personal boundaries, but they've got tons of experience in dealing with truly toxic relationships.

@Sexyrose40 Your child's wellbeing automatically trumps any adult's feelings.

@yukimori you are completely right about that, and I actually yelled that and was angry with myself for allowing it to go so far, and not think of my child.

I completely commend you for breaking those ties, a friend of mines told me the same thing. I just didn't no how to do it, because loving a family member to the point where, there lives our yours, was toxic for me and my son, I had to began with putting me and my son first, whether it hurt the family member or not.

A family without drama isn't a real family
