Americans will spend more on treats, pumpkins and costumes this Halloween than they have in at least the last 11 years. I love Halloween. When married and my family will go out trick and treating. This was a good way to meet your neighbors. It was fun in my days. The kids loved it.So they are saying that they are spending more on treats etc. I noticed this the other day at Target.Picking up candy, costume etc. Some hate Halloween. My neighbor is one of them. Not sure why. But for us we loved us. How much do you spend on Halloween treats? The photo is public domaine. Tell us some of the costume there.Loved to see them.

I hate to say it, but none. The kids don't come to our complex, so we'd just end up eating it ourselves.

Halloween is a new holiday for us. I´d say it is one of the copied holidays from the northern hemisphere. We don´t have those pumpkins and the Halloween colours are the colours of the fall. Still, small children are now using costumes to go trick or treating. I buy some wrapped candy to give to them. BTW, in my family we throw away alll unwrapped candy when the children are not looking.

I only spend around 2 dollars for a rather big bag of suckers or other type hard candy. We don't get that many trick or treaters and I really don't want to spend a lot on fancy candy.

@amadeo The people who go all out and decorate their yards and have piles of candy, must spend a fortune.

We don't have kids so obviously we don't go trick or treating. I buy 2 bags of candy for any kids who happen to come by our door.

I use to spend a lot of money on Halloween but now where I live we don't get any trick or treaters at all. I use to get around 200. It was so much fun. I will buy a special treat for my two grandchildren but that will be it.

I don't spend much on it. Most of the kids in our neighbourhood are now too old for trick or treat so we don't get the visitors we used to. So I just get in a few packs of mini chocolate bars for those trick or treaters that do call, but what usually happens is that we end up eating it all ourselves over the days that follow!

New don't spend that much. Although one of my children has a peanut allergy and a lot of Halloween treats are made with peanuts or in the same line as where other candy with peanuts are made. I buy stuff for the little kids that can't really have candy and spend about $20 or less and I give it to my parents because they hand out candy and stiff at there house. Me and my husband take our three our trick or treating and we don't spend a lot on there outfit s either we buy at the end of last Halloween outfits on sale and a lot of the times the kids still want to wear it the next year. I buy little I go to make and keep it under $20 for the kids.

I think that this will be the first year where we won't have to buy any. Kind of sad about that. I loved the little kids. Last year I had a toddler try to give me candy out of his pumpkin lol!

When my kids were younger I would go all out for Halloween,. I would bake treats for their classes and have a party at my house Halloween was fun. Now because of poison candy I only give out small toys.

I'm a Halloween Hater. If you're of a nervous disposition, suffer from anxiety or panic attacks, find talking to strangers difficult, etc., Halloween can be a very unsettling time. I go out, or turn my lights out, but over here it isn't really a Big Thing, thankfully. It's becoming more of a Big Thing, unfortunately. It's a very American 'celebration' I think.

Personally, I don't celebrate Halloween as it's not a typical europeen celebration and I never did. But, I like to see it on TV and in films. If you know how, it may be a very great party.

It varies year per year since I dont always hand outcandy but you are right - its expensive! You are looking at $20 for a big bag of good candy.

We live in a rural village, and the lots are wide and the age of people out here there are no children. So we literally don't even buy candy because we've not had anyone at the door in probably 10 years.

I a!ways try to buy good candy to give out on Halloween so it can be a bit costly but I want the neighborhood kids to enjoy what they get
