Would you ride in a driverless car?

I just heard the news that driverless cabs will be introduced next month to commuters. Although this is high tech and state of the art, I would not even ride in a self-drive car let alone a driverless one. Somehow I think it's not worth risking as the safety aspect is still not proven. Do you share my view? Or are you game to ride in a driverless car?

Two driverless cabs were introduced four months ago in the north of Switzerland. A couple of days ago they both caused an accident and now have been removed for investigation. My reply is that I do not trust them.

@LadyDuck Yes, I also do not fully trust driverless car. Until they proved themselves to be completely safe, reliable and secure then maybe I would try.

Why not? I think a drunk driver is riskier

@louievill Yes, but you have a choice of not getting into a car driven by an intoxicated driver.

@ladypatypixie That's probably a wise thing to do - ensure that the system is proven before risking our lives.

They have driverless Uber cars here in some cities in the USA. I'm always wary of new technology until it is proven.

@DianneN Yes, most people are wary of new technology especially if personal safety is an issue. Let's see how they progress before we join them.

@Ayuriny It may be cool and exciting at first but I still think the system needs time to prove itself.

@kamruzzaman5ndc Yes, it may not be safe now but if in the near future it could be a boon to commuters as they won't need a human driver at all. In time to come, human drivers meaning taxi drivers, bus drivers, etc will be harder to get and also more expensive.

@kamruzzaman5ndc Yes, it would be unwise to rely on a robot especially in this type of event but perhaps in the future who knows they are able to make such robot-driven cars as safe or safer than cars driven by human drivers. We just have to wait for that day.

@succeednow you right but it difficult to rely on a robot when it is life related matter.

I am rather curious about these driverless cars and I would be willing to give it a try.
