Day 17
Proverbs 6:12-19
Proverbs 6:12 A naughty person, a wicked man, walks with a froward mouth.
13 He winks with his eyes, he speaks with his feet, he teaches with his fingers;
14 Frowardness is in his heart, he devises mischief continually; he sows discord.
15 Therefore shall his calamity come suddenly; suddenly shall he be broken without remedy.
16 These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:
17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,
18 A heart that devises wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,
19 A false witness that speaks lies, and he that sows discord among brethren.
We all have things we dislike. They are our pet peeves. Whenever we come in contact with anything or anyone who displays our pet peeve we cringe, bite our tongue if the object or person is someone we don’t know, or we lash out if it’s someone we do.
God has his list of things he hates as well. You might find your pet peeve among those things God hates. Anything that will take us away from him is something God hates. Lies, smooth-talkers, people who devise mischief, those who sow discord, all are naughty people and are not to be trusted.
Solomon knew what God hated and sought to teach his son accordingly so he would stay out of trouble. It isn’t easy to do when people use flattery and cunning to lead you away from what you know is right by packaging their intent with something that looks good on the outside, but once you get under the top layer, wickedness is boiling below the surface.
If you know the person is normally not to be trusted, then there’s a good chance that is still the case and you need to walk away from whatever he or she is offering. Let God deal with that person and keep yourselves from every form of evil.
One thing you can do is keep a mental checklist of what you like and dislike. Your pet peeves will scream at you so loud you won’t hear anything else. God is keeping you from doing anything evil. Walk away and feel God’s hand of blessing on your life.
Let’s pray: Father, keep evil far from me so I will always feel your hand of protection on my life. Let me discern when something isn’t right. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.

I agree. It's so hard to walk away, but walk away we must.

You're right. It is hard, but something we need to do.

Hi. I understand what you are saying about things which are not of God. I also like what you wrote that having a mental checklist for likes and dislikes. I don't like lying ,gossip, someone using me like for money, or listening to the word of God when he sends the Holy Spirit to remind you of scripture to keep you from evil. God want his children to read the word, pray for others and let him take care of his children

You're right. I don't like those things either, but when we do listen to the Holy Spirit and read God's Word, we will always be able to discern right from wrong.
