A Broken Hand

What the heck will happen next? The last thing we were thinking happened this morning. My better half broke his hand. He stumbled and fell on his hand. We thought it was sore from him falling on it, but it began to swell and we went to the emergency room.
They did an xray and found it was broken. The nurse put his hand and arm in a heavy rubber looking wrap. He's to go to have the doctor check it out on Monday. I don't know if he will put a cast on it or leave it in this rubber thingy.
They wrote a prescription for pain pills and my better half says it helps. I don't know how much he will sleep tonight. Anyway, I'm glad we went to have it checked out, and it can begin to heal.

@RubyHawk ....ANd he's right handed? Should be quite an adventure through life until it heals.

I am so sorry for your hubby. The doctor, will surely place his hand in a cast, or fracture-brace, to immobilize the broken hand bones and hold them in place. The cast probably will extend from the fingertips up past the wrist almost to the elbow.

Prescription pain pills? If they're Vicodin, tell him not to take too many, or he'll wind up by the Pioneer Chicken Stand.

I would think he wouldn't have to go see the regular doctor, especially since they already know it's broken @RubyHawk . I'm surprised they didn't cast it then and there.

@RubyHawk I fall asleep immediately from exhaustion. My hubby falls asleep from the meds. However, when he awakens, he wakes me up. He can't get showered or dressed without my help.
I hope your better half is feeling better, although it will take a while to heal. Will he need therapy afterwards?

Oh how terrible. I'm so sorry. It could have been a hip though, that would have been way worse.
