Have you ever been rude to an agent you spoke with over the phone?

I've worked as a call center agent before and have talked to different customers from different countries..
I've encountered my fair share of rude , racist , foul mouthed customers but not all are bad..
When I was new to that industry i was asking my self how can a person be so mean to someone who is just trying to help them.. it started to bother me because I've gone under difficult training to help them fix their problems over the phone.. but they wont let me..
After a couple of weeks taking in calls I just got the hang of it.
Personaly I don't yell at agents over the phone.. it doesn't make them work faster... and i can just calmly ask for a managerr if I'm not happy with the agent..
So guys, have you ever?

No, because it would just be useless being rude over the phone.

I should write some about my experiences on help desk. I certainly have seen that side like you. To answer your question no. I feel if something is wrong want to talk to the manager as well. I did have one person with a modem issue I was having tell me the modem needed some time to "think" or something. I wasn't sure if there was truth in it or the guy was out to lunch. In the end it got replaced problem solved.

I couldn't figure that one out @Iamsopia
Not sure what the problem was but they gave me another modem at the store and life was good again.
Help me out here will you. Are you online for technical support.
What I don't get is updates go where? If it is on the OS if I reinstall the OS it should give issues right? Doesn't with my present modem. So I am not understanding this.

I am never rude over the phone, but the opposite happened once. Customers call centers for France are often in Africa, and I had once an agent with a so strong accent that I had to ask him to repeat quite everything... and he exploded after a while. It was the call center of my cable provider and I had a problem with my line... I decided to use the old way : I sent a registered mail, and gave 8 days to solve the problem. It worked.

No. All my jobs were spent working extensively with the public, and so I'd never go off on someone. What's going on is hardly ever that worker's fault. I have had to ask for a supervisor, but I don't do so unkindly. It's just that sometimes you need further authorization to get something accomplished. There are ways to do it without dishing out abuse.

I am extremely rude to cold callers trying to scam me but otherwise I try to respect workers in call centres, having actually done that job myself. The exception might be if they are not actually listening to me and just reciting from a script - which, of course, is also rude.

I try to always be nice but sometimes I get rude or just hang up. I don't like when I call for one thing and they constantly push for me to buy or do something else that I didn't originally call to do. I understand they are just doing their jobs and they are told to do this when they are on the phone, but NO means NO.
