Does it matter what time you post a discussion?

I've done a bit of an experiment lately and see if this really matters.
I've noticed that when I post a discussion in my mornings prior to 12:00 GMT, it largely goes unnoticed.
The same can be said if I post a discussion very late in my evenings.. say 22:00GMT.
So I'm trying to work out what's the best time to post my discussions? I figure it's a time I would be able to catch most of you online!
What's your observation on this? Does it matter what time you post a discussion?

I found I get the most responses if I post around 4 pm Eastern time. I am in the US. If I post early, other stories get piled on top and it may be missed. That is the time when kids get home from school and people come home from work and go on the computer.

Depends on where in the world you are located. Maximum response chance is when America is awake.

I am in GMT, but I think most of my followers come online in my afternoons

Hahaha! Well as an individual hitler did achieve a lot, but then it's not exactly positive stuff. I don't feel like writing controversial posts just to get responses, I leave that stuff to my real work lol

This might be a matter of opinion, but I think the best chance for the success of your posts is to write them during a time when you know most of America will be awake and active. Now, since our country spans four time zones, that gives you quite a bit of wiggle room! Good luck to you on finding that perfect G-spot of writing!

At the moment no as I'm so far behind in notifications, I get to them when I do. By then there are a lot of responses on that particular post. I generally find all your posts as I come upon your comments on mine, so I wouldn't worry about the time of day.

@Drosophila That might have been the case a few days ago, but I'm back up over 400 again and trying to get them knocked down a bit. I just finished off the 26th.

I guess it's a case of whether most commentators on my posts are my followers or not

In fact I don't really pay attention to it. As whenever I have an inspiration and I will try to post the discussions right away. I am afraid that I will forget it if I delay it. Of course it is better if there are more people see it and respond to my discussions. If not, that's OK. At least I will still get a few responses.

I think it doesn't matter what time you post your post it is more important to then go to the discussions of those you follow and get busy interacting. Lots of interactions happen while I am asleep because I get busy before I go to bed. I am proactive.

@Drosophila I figure if people are not on at the same time as me I will read theirs while I am on and they will do the same when they come on, it all works out.

The important for me is not what time you post the topic, as long as I respond back to those who respond to me. then theres no problem.

As far as I can tell, Wendy, my posts will slowly gather views all day or night long. Usually two days is as long as one will draw views, unless I start hitting up posts written by people I don't know as well, and then they will usually hit whatever post they are interested in reading, no matter how long it has been up.
It doesn't matter when I submit my posts, either.

@Drosophila So people are just desperate to hit up whatever posts I have?.... I see.... LMFAO! Hey, at least I have something up there for them to write on, right? (giggling my tush off!)

It probably shouldn't matter to much since people are here from many different time zones so when you post something there is always some one awake to see it. I post when I think of something to write. Sometimes I get lots of responses sometimes barely any.

I can only get on here on my days off work so I do miss a lot of the discussions. I spend most of my mornings catching up with other things and get on here when I can. For me I just post when I can.

Personally i think it depends more on WHAT you post then WHEN you post it...because for someone like me...who is here twice a day...i go back 12 hours to the last discussion i read and read upwards from there...so people like me wont miss the discussion depending on the time...but we might miss it depending on the topic of conversation.

Right, that's true to an extent. But I have found what's interest to my followers changes a lot. The time factor definitely has influence, for people that logs on once a day, I definitely wants to maximise the chance of being seen
