Do You Ever Forget the Day of the Week? I Forgot the Month

I'm sure it's not uncommon for many of us to forget the day of the week. It can happen when we're busy with our life or when things are slow. Usually, it's when we're not working otherwise we'd possibly be late to work or something like that. I don't think forgetting the day of the week is an age related thing, for I'm sure I've forgotten even when I was much younger. For some reason earlier this week I was thinking we were still in the month of August. The funny thing about that is that it's been quite a bit colder recently, at least for me. Course, every year is different, and I'm sure we've had chilly August weather before. Why was I mixed up? I've no clue. I did get back on track within a day or so all by myself, which was a good thing. Maybe I have too many things going on or something.

Lol - I've never mistaken the month, but both my husband and I 'lost' a day when we were on holiday last year.

No idea. I always have a lot going on, so if that was it you'd think it would have happened before. It could also be that I'm not ready for it to be Autumn, course thinking it's a different month won't keep winter from moving forward but it would be nice.

When I'm not working, i seem to be well aware of the days, but when I'm working I don't seem to notice what day it is. That's because I'm not employed and I don't follow the working days. I work all day all week, so much so that I don't notice what day of the week it is. But you're right about forgetting days of the week as a common thing. But forgetting what month it is? I think that has happened to me as well.

It happens, especially during the holidays, when I do not turn the computer on early in the morning.

I would forget the day and the month if it wasn't at the bottom of my computer screen. I glance at it several times during the day. I don't think I would forget the month and I keep track of the days of the week, but I frequently forget the actual date.

Most of the time, I forget the day and the date.. There are times that when my eyes open in the morning, I have to think first about the day and the date....

It is far easier for me to go astray now that I have retired because I used the date frequently at work.

I only need the date at work when people are paying by check and ask the date. Sometimes I'll look at the screen just to double-check for myself if I know of a bill coming due or something, which reminds me... I better check my accounts two are coming out today or was it yesterday? The time shows up on my taskbar, but not the date, and for whatever reason neither are showing up right now, and my taskbar is hidden too. Maybe I set it that way, to be hidden unless needed, but, I don't remember doing so. I have a calendar on the wall, but rarely look at it.

@MarshaMusselman You can easily drag or drop the toolbar. I find it convenient anywhere and simply leave it at the bottom, but have used a top or left hand toolbar in Linux. You can even create a toolbar and set it as a floating toolbar anywhere on the screen.

@Asylum I did that type of thing years ago by mistake. I don't remember, but I think I moved it to the top. None of the locations work well all the time, but we get used to where we have them I think and deal with it without thinking about changing them when needed. I've tried to move mine in the past after doing so by accident once or twice and found it wasn't so easy when I wanted it moved. I'm sure many computer users at home lose it and are at more of a loss since they don't have a Barry readily available to ask these silly questions.

I think it is just because you have to many things going on.

That could be. It also could be because I have in the back of my mind that I'd like to get more weeding done so I can plant the seeds I've had for too long already. I discovered the best way to plant them and when, but if I wait too long I'll run out of time again. I really don't know why I was mixed up for that one day or so. It's odd when that type of thing happens, though.

I frequently forget what day I am in. As for the month I am pretty sure which one it is, although at the very beginning and end of it I have been known to lost track.

Well, it is going toward the end of the month, so I'll use that excuse. Funny thing is I've been looking forward to having my knee appointment which is next month and for that reason alone I should have been able to stay on track.

yes. It is happening nowadays. If anybody asks me the day of the week I am not getting it quickly. So I am seeing my Smartphone. Some people say it is because of dementia. Is it so?

No, I don't blame any forgetfulness on dementia or senility or anything related to the aging process. I blame it on our busy lifestyles instead.

I've found that not having a 5-day a week regular 9-5 job makes it very difficult to remember what day it is when I wake up in the morning.

I have two five-day work weeks although they don't fall on the same days and I still have problems sometimes remembering the day.

@LindaCPearson I've been doing it this way for many years already. I work as a cashier, most weeks over the weekend along with Mon, Tues and Fri unless someone else needs a day off and I have to cover it. Then I work windows when it's not raining or too cold every day but the weekends. I do windows longer days the two days I have off from the other jobs. I don't have to write the date down much ever, so it's a wonder I ever remember what day it is, other than making specific appointment for our customers. How's Mildred, by the way? It seems you're keeping her under a basket these days. Did the mouse get her tongue?

@MarshaMusselman It would seem to me that mxing up the work schedule like that would only add to the confusion. It definitely would for me!

I think just about everyone has probably forgotten the day or date before, but I was thinking it was August for about two days when it was toward the end of September.

It doesn't matter what time of year it is, before I write the date down I always have to run through the months in my head until I realize which month we're in. Last week, yeah, I thought every day was Friday until we actually got there.

That's a joke, right? There's no way you're two days ahead of me.
