Why do we call Jelly beans, Jelly beans? They are not made of jelly, nor are they actually beans. So where do you think the name comes from? Do you like Jelly beans? If you could rename them, what would you call them?

Where did anything get their name? They are made of jelly or gelatin and resemble beans.

Depends on the "thing" in question as to where it's name comes from. Not necessarily because of its ingredients or it's actual look. But yeah Jelly beans used to be more bean shaped then they are now, Except the Jelly Belly brand, those have maintained a bean like shape throughout the years.

Jelly beans are shaped like beans and the ingredients is similar to that of a jello, soft and chewy, thus the name. I wouldn't rename it. I like it the way it is. I love JELLY BEANS!

I always found them shaped like beans and the inside are jelly like so I figures that is how they got their name. I don't think I would call them anything else. I do enjoy them especially the black ones. They are my favorite.

While as a child I do recall the "jelly beans" being more bean shaped, I find them to just be little balls now with little to no actual shape. Ohhh I dont much care for Jelly beans, I could take them or leave them, but when I do eat them the green and yellow ones are my favorites and I do not like the black ones at all.

they surely look like beans. And looking at them, don't they resemble jellies? So i feel jelly beans are perfectly called as jelly beans :)
