Tomorrow is Mahalaya

Tomorrow is Mahalaya, the first day of the worship of the Goddess Durga in Bengal. The children of our Foster Home are excited. Tomorrow they want to rise much before sunrise to watch special TV programs dramatizing the slaying of the Buffalo Demon (Mahisasur). In fact, the real worship will start on the seventh day culminating on the ninth day. On the tenth day,the idols will be immersed in the rivers and lakes. Those will be days of religious fervor and fun.
