We all have that one thing, we cannot give up.
For me it's great food! After I've graduated, I went through a period of poverty.
Massive student loans to pay off and limited means.
The only thing that kept me happy was my weekly treat of great food. For every other 6 days it's pasta all the way.
So ya what's the one thing you cannot give up?

@Drosophila Few are as comfy as your own... and when I am asleep in a bed, it is, by definition, my bed. Or my side of it, at least...

@Drosophila I do not indulge myself.
Seriously, I read the responses and I see that it is some kind of food for many. For once, I will follow the mass : you can remove anything you want in my diet and I will not protest...
...I like variety when it comes to food, so I will be happy to find a replacement.

absolutely! I agree. The good thing is we don't have to give up time alone with God. unlike good food for dieting.

@Drosophila True. The best diet food is fresh fruit and vegetables. I'm doing well on this diet along with swimming.

Work, be it regular or online job. I'll never give them up in exchange of weekends, meeting with friends, etc. Work and the money I earn from it make me happy. I'm lucky that I never experienced hardship in life. Thanks to my workaholic parents, a trait which I inherited. I've seen some struggle with their finances. I don't want to be in that situation. If I need to work from Monday to Sunday, then be it. I want a life where my present and my future is financially secure.

I agree with that, I love working myself. it's great when you can positively apply your skills and get paid for it. Though, I must say, going through my poverty stretch worked out really well. It has grounded me in ways that university has not done. University was a bit of a bubble, while I was working to pay for my living expenses, I had illusions that graduation meant I'd walk into a job and be instantaneously ok.
Evidently, that was not the case, I graduated with outstanding results and massive debts to pay off. As the rejection letters piled up, it really didn't look like I was going to get anywhere great for a while. Now in retrospect, that period did me a whole lot of good, it showed me to be realistic in my expectations but to be confident in my abilities. At the same time, it really showed me who my friends were.. so ya won't trade that period for the world

Well... Since i have literally lost every possession I owned, there is not anything I can't give up, except breathing. I guess that would be hard to give up.

It doesn't have to be material.. it could be simple little indulgences, like sleeping that extra hour etc

@Drosophila the internet makes you even more curiouser because it's much easier than finding a book. but then it also makes us "expect" that there's "always" a writeup, a picture, and a video about whatever it is online; that text, images, audio and motion are "the norm."

Yes, it's food, though I need to cut on it for health reasons; also sleep, I feel always so sleepy these days.
