Three is a magic number (thank you Sesame Street!) We are at #3 in my Favorite Acid Jazz Bands series. The #3 slot belongs to England band Emperors New Clothes. Emperors New Clothes were led by founders Andy Knight (sax/horns) and bassist Luke Hannam. In acid jazz, anything goes, as long as it's jazzy and groovy. The band specialized in trippy dub jazz songs. Part of the Acid Jazz label's roster, Emperors New Clothes released two proper albums and one live record, then pretty much disappeared from the scene. 1993 saw the release of their debut album, Unsettled Life. An instrumental group, the band utilized female vocals only twice. The title track is one of those songs. It's jazzy and trippy, with, like jazz, tempo changes. Oh, and the vocals are very pretty. I just wish the band had put out more material, because two studio albums are not enough.

I struggle with jazz, but the thought of a blend with other music is just too much!

Or, it might just be a style of jazz you might like. It's really cool.

A long song that is almost hypnotic. Trippy as you say.
