The trade relations between Asia and Europe were not that much roaring before the 2nd Century A.D., But it was the Alexander the Great the Macedon who laid the foundation for the development of Trade Relations between the Two continents.
Alexander the Great could establish a vast empire in less than 4 years the world had ever seen. It stretched from Greece in the West to India in the East. The Great General instilled a lot of patriotism among his troops. He died at the age of 33 years and his vast empire did collapse but the culture continued in the cities that spread the Greek Culture Eastwards. These cities were all called Alexandria after the founder and established the trade relations that continued for centuries.
Alexander was no doubt a great General and established a vast empire in a short time but the cultural foundation that he laid had continued for centuries and it is for this he is rightly honored with the suffix after his name 'the Great';

I remember my lesson in class that Chinese used to do barter in our country before the Spaniards discover the Philippines.
