Is a "like" alone enough?

Recently I read a post about "liking and leaving." I wonder if I am doing this wrong. What someone responds to my post, I "like", then type a reply. If I just like someone's comment, maybe on someone else's post, I hit the like button, but don't feel obligated to reply. Sometimes I hit the like button just to let the person know I read it and am not just ignoring them. Am I doing this incorrectly ? Thanks!

There is no correct or incorrect way to use the like button. Just do whatever is right for you I like most responses/comments on my discussions but occasionally miss a few I like any post (discussion/response/comment) I interact with but do sometimes just like discussions and don't say anything. I know this annoys some people but I'll just do what I want

I do the same if I have nothing to add as a comment but I like what they wrote.

It all depends if we have something to add or not.

Mostly I prefer to like and also reply. I feel by postings some thing, may be there is no point, the person feels some satisfaction.i think it is good way of interaction. What you think my friends?

I don't think you are doing anything wrong, especially if you don't have something to say. I mean at that point there's nothing really to work with so what's the point? I'm assuming some people just comment whatever because they want their bank account to be moving and that's when you get random comments that just don't make sense.

You are so right. I don't leave comments just to "move my bank account." I'd rather make sense than cents! Ha, that's a good one.

It's better than being ignored and can introduce you to a new reader. Better to just like than try and force out some meaningless/generic comment.

That's so true. I'd rather say nothing than something contrived.

That's what I do, too. If can't think of anything good to say sometimes I just leave it as a like

I guess not every post or comment requires a reply.

If I like your post I hit like. If I don't like it then I don't hit like. Sometimes I forget to like stuff...some stuff shouldn't be liked. It's how you feel, its up to you. There is no right or wrong with like.

I posted about this shortly after I joined the site. Your strategy is pretty much the same as mine. Comments lead to further conversation. But you can't converse about every comment on every post!

I think it would seem fakey to do that.

I don't know that is a correct and/or incorrect way. I do exactly what you do although I normally try to 'respond' if I can when I read a post. Occasionally there seems very little to say in which I might like and move on.

I go on liking several threads lol I don't always reply backI do make sure to leave a response when I visit a post unless I have been tagged. Then I only answer the person who tagged me.

I pretty much do the same. I don't comment if I have nothing to say.

@1creekgirl some days I am just more "talkative" than others but I still feel like reading even when I have nothing to say.

Well if you are doing it incorrectly I suspect the same can be said for many of us. I think you are doing it fine. I do much the same.

No I don't think you are wrong... Sometimes we like discussion but know what to write so it is better to like than to go without doing anything
