My first Stephen King novel

Although I have enjoyed various movies based on Mr. King's work, such as "Stand By Me", "Dream Catcher" , "Misery" and "Under the Dome" - I had never actually read any of his novels until recently.
Well, technically I listened to the audiobook, but I digress.
Unable to find an audiobook at library that interested I thought I would give "Finders Keepers" a try and I was swept into a world of crime drama. The story jumped back and forth in time but once I got used to who was who it kept me interested. I made it most of the way through the book - thinking that this was really more of a crime or mystery novel until it got a little bit gory. Not bad though.
If you have been afraid to try Stephen King because of the horror aspect of his work you don't need to avoid all of his works.
I think I will pursue more of his novels in the future.

Finders Keepers is a sequel to Mr. Mercedes. They are not King horror novels but his attempt at crime stories.

There are definitely some elements of horror in the story (that is his specialty, after all), but it is true that he made it more of a crime story than a horror story.

Oh, that explains a lot then. -- I thought too -- it wasn't too bad, too scary except for a couple of spots it got a little gory.... well done - I'd say that's my level of gore

I started reading Under the Done last year because I was a fan of the show. I took a break from it because I had other books to review, now I'm ready to start on it again.

@FayeHazel I'm only about 90 pages into the book and there a few differences. For instance, in the book Barbie is a citizen rather than an outsider.

I love that show, too. Though I heard it's far different from the book. What do you think?

You started with the wrong book! LOL Finders Keepers was the second book in the loosely-defined trilogy that deals with Mr. Mercedes. You have to go back and read Mr. Mercedes, then re-read Finders Keepers, and then read End of Watch. A great series of separate--yet interrelated--stories!
I'm a huge King fan! Picked up my first King book when I was 13, and haven't put them down since!

@FayeHazel I've never listened to an audiobook before. How much different is it versus reading?

Whoops! lol. I noticed that as I was on the official Stephen King website. I think Mr.Mercedes will be my next Stephen King, here's to hoping I can find the audiobook version of it.

I never read his book and I have seen his movies. He is a writer that had one of a kind imagination.
