Let bygones be bygones

Facebook tells me you got married today,
A bit unexpected I must say.
I didn't think it's what you wanted to do.
But then you were young, and I was too.
I was shocked I didn't feel anything negative,
It's true, it's affirmative!
I guess I am truly over you,
Just like you've gotten over me too.
I wish you all the best,
The ghost of our past is finally at rest.
At last, I am free,
Over the moon and beyond the sea.
"Thank you for the fish!" I say,
Enjoy life if you may.
Our story is done,
Let bygones be bygones!
p.s this is a possible reply to my ex, who got in touch with me shortly after he got married. I have no idea why, but I am truly done with him. We broke up after he cheated.

Lordy, he just got married and he's already trying to re-connect with you? That doesn't sound too promising for the new bride.

ya hitch hiker's guide to galaxy. it is the message left by the dolphins to humans when they departed Planet Earth just before it was demolished
It means, thanks for the good time & so long!

@TheHorse anytime, though I was being a bit naughty with the implication.. as the dolphins told the human's "thanks and bye" just before Earth blow up.. well..
I was kinda implying the same with my next line "enjoy life" xD
my mischievousness coming to shine here

Stay single, it's way easier.
PS...no offence but I hate the word gottenI know it's old English but now I associate it with the americanisation of the english language so I hate it
PPS..maybe you should write songs for adele.

@TheHorse just a little niggle of mine
I know it's very common in the US but I do dislike it being used by UK people.
As it wasn't used by a UK person in this case I will STFU

@Mike197602 Id have to think about little phrases that bother me. I think I'm more bothered by folks who can't use "there," their" and "they're" correctly.

Maybe he wanted closure like apologising and stuff. By the way, it's a very good poem and a reply!

@Daljinder ...Even if he has regrets, he needs to walk out of that relationship, and then get together with Wendy, not try to confirm whether she is waiting for him, and then plan on leaving that girl. The guy has no sense of honor...such a guy should never be allowed back. If Wendy has no interest in him, he at least has wifey to fall back on kind...you know insurance type...hate such two timers.

Maybe he was being an a$$hat like you said. I was trying to see the positive and hoping may be that guy did grow some brain cells.

I am always sorry to see ppl go through the pain, there often is no greater wound then the wound of one who was so close-it isn't "just emotional", it is physical, it is real, it is part of ourselves and hence our bodies as much as any other wound.

@HebrewGreekStudies Agreed it was very very painful once upon a time :D
So ya I'm positively delighted that part is completely gone. They say when a door closes, a window is opened. I agree, that door is not only fully closed, it's disappeared, and replaced by a window looking out to a great view :D

There is definitely a good reason for you to get over him.
Good luck with your life ahead without him!

Prophet Rumi says that every person who comes in your life , comes as a guide from the above. He came into your life for a short while only to teach you what exactly love is. I love the phrase let bygones be bygones because in that case you can truly start afresh and with a greater zeal.

I agree with you there.. he did teach me a lesson about love..
but it was a lesson on "how to love myself"..

I agree and that's the most important lesson of all. A very bright future lies ahead of you.
