where are you, sunshine?

I am naked and the world is dark. Every morning this week has been blessed with beautiful misty sunrises, baby blue skies and soft fluffy white clouds. Today is the exception. The world is grey and dull, and the outlines of houses and trees are black on the horizon, evil shadows, watching. Waiting. I can see a faint glow on the horizon which must be the sun fighting its way out of the Pit of Despair. Or Australia. I am not truly naked. I was halfway to the bus stop this morning when I realised I'd forgotten a vital piece of outerwear. My rings are missing. And my earrings, but this is a lesser worry. I have my wedding/engagement rings on, my watch and my bracelets, but my right hand is devoid of adornment and this makes me feel a little odd. I wear three rings on my right hand and without them my fingers look a tad sorry for themselves. I'm looking at them now and thinking how they look like little people. Naked little people. I should humour myself and draw tiny little faces on my fingernails. I shan't, of course. I think I forgot to put my rings on because today's routine is going to be different. Instead of getting into the city and grabbing a take-away latte, drinking half of it in Costa whilst people-watching, I have to walk through town and meet MiL and Baby Toddler Niece in the place where the roads make a cross. THEN we'll pop into Costa for breakfast. At least it isn't raining.
