Yesterday I saw my brother and asked him about his trip to France, since I haven't seen him in two weeks, since he left for it. Though he and my SIL had a good time, he told me France was smelly, maybe because of polluted water. Through photos and and film on his Android, he showed me the places he went too--a castle in the medieval towns outside Paris, especially where the French king lived, outside the Eiffel tower, a couple of fancy homes with rich architecture, the Louvre, Versailles, and a couple of other places, too. He also told me, they did take a day trip to Brussels, Belgium (no photos from there.)
As for souvenirs, I did get 3 berets (black, purple and blue), 1 Parisian umbrella and 2 Parisian totes. Not bad! Maybe someday I can give him a souvenir from my travels.

I have lived in France for 25 years and I have never found France smelly. Then we should know which part of France he found smelly, because some places around Paris could be a bit smelly. The only place on earth that I have really found smelly was New Orleans.

I've been to Paris, what I did find about Paris, it's not clean then you could say that about a lot of places and then the traffic, the freeway/motorway around the city is a nightmare but that was about 10/15 years ago since I was last there, things may have changed. It's years since I went to Brussels, must go there again one day.

I had the opportunity to visit France on several occasions in the late 70's and then in the 80's. I really enjoyed Paris and hope to have a chance to go back.

We have visited France 4 times. It is a beautiful country. I have never found it smelly. My older son lived there his junior year of college and traveled multiple times with his wife, most recently last May. He never said it was smelly, either. Our younger son has been there three times, twice with his fiancée, and not once did he find it smelly. Perhaps it was the aroma of all the wonder cheeses they sell. I hope you get to visit soon. It's one place that everyone should see. Xi'an, China smelled badly due to the smoke from the manufacturing plants.

Could be. I forgot to ask him that today. Maybe in the future.
