J.K.Rowling in her latest Pottermore installment used the same recurring theme she used in the Harry Potter series: A character only appears/shows up (after many years of hibernation) because someone MENTIONS his/her name.
One of my favorite scenes from the HP book was when Ron was finally able to locate his friends (after a fight insued) because Hermione unknowingly MENTIONED his name.
That's why people (in the series) were afraid to MENTION the enemy's name and call him you-know-who instead. Or he would have appeared to torture the wits out of them.
I am currently, hopelessly missing someone. If I call out his name aloud and with longing, will he appear?

Where is he? Will he come if you call his name? If I was nearby, I would join you for a pint just so you would have some company.

i confess to not 've e'er read any 'f her books, nor seen any 'f the movies. it'd be nice sometimes that all one'd the need to do was say someone's name though'n 'em appear.

@sol_cee - Yes, all seven of the Potter books, anyway. I didn't read the novel she recently published. I have only read the books once, though, so I'm sure I'm forgetting things at this point.
