In an earlier post I mentioned how some people you talk about something and they will respond "No, that's not right" or "That isn't how it is" and then when they explain what "they" think, it's exactly what you said except in a different way. Now some times they just use different wording and then there are other times when the person really isn't listening to you.
My husband had that experience the other day, he got some metal panels out that he was going to finish skirting our trailer house before the snow hits this winter. Well, his mom needed some metal panels to finish up her storage shed, to keep her new motorcycle in. My husband specifically told her that the panels he had out were for our trailer house and that he had "other" panels that would fit perfectly on her shed. He would fix our trailer house skirting and fix "her" shed.
Last night as we were about to eat, we ear the MIL banging something!! The hubby, the more he thought about, just knew she was using the panels that he specifically told her were for our trailer house were to be used for the trailer. Sure enough that was what she was doing!! Also, in the process she banged her thumb!!! The panels are too thick to use a nail and hammer, my husband has to use the screw gun. My husband told her, HE would do it and that he had bigger panels for "her" shed, why was she doing this? She said she guessed she wasn't listening!!!
It's nice to know that when you talk to some people and they don't listen to you, you're NOT the only one that they don't listen to!!

Post I was referring to:
Oh, my goodness yesterday was NOT my day for people listening to me. Now, often times it's understandable on writing sites that the words get lost in...

Oh, @nanette64 I do!! She's the type of person that "knows everything!" I'm finding out that there are a lot of things that she doesn't know, such as listening!!

I always thought that maybe I needed to take speaking classes for people to hear/listen to me!! But it's nice to find out that some people jus don't listen!!
