Quite a day today. It started with a phone call from an agency offering me some temporary work for the build up to Christmas though this has dreadful hours and it would clash with the post office work I have already secured for much of the same time period. I am going to the interview tomorrow before making a final decision on this. Job club next where one of the advisors helped me get a slight reduction in my council tax billing – every little helps, though job search wise it was not so great. In the evening I went to a free cinema screening offered as part of the month long Preston Arts Festival. This was actually a festival within a festival as it was part of the week long One In Four Film Festival, staged at Preston University, which focuses on movies that shine a light on mental health issues. The festival is celebrating its tenth anniversary and the audience was treated to a free wine and cheese buffet before hand, as well as live music. It was a very pleasant night, with the festival formerly opened by the Lord Mayor Of Preston. The movie was the terrific Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys biopic, Love And Mercy which I have reviewed in a separate feature. There are more films on in the festival over the week and I hope to get to each of them. After the film, many in the audience spoke of how it relates to their own experiences and struggles with mental health issues, which was very moving. Arthur Chappell

I love to see the mental health struggles become more common and less taboo, to be honest MOST people have a time in their life where they struggle with something mental.

Great for you, I actually was a mailman for a short stint in the Marines. Other than the holidays, I really liked doing that job. Hope your job pays well, and awesome you got hooked up with another job for the holiday season. They also need to do more movies of those sorts of topics because society seems to becoming more sick and twisted from an ousiders perspective. lol

It's funny how when you wait for work, two offers often then come in at once and you have to choose. The festival sounds very interesting.

That movie and discussion does sound beneficial. Isn't that the way, the two jobs have to conflict with each other

That's cool that they do that. So many people just don't understand mental illness.

Good that you have been offered some more work, even if the hours aren't great. The cinema screening night sounded enjoyable with the free buffet.
