Prescriptions or Hollistic therapies?

Throughout my early adult years thus far I have struggled with both anxiety and depression. Without the knowledge I have now, I decided to turn to my doctor for "help" so I would be able to feel more like myself again. He asked a few questions, prescribed a mood-stabilizer, then set me on my way. I was to report back every 3-4 weeks for testing to make sure my body responded well to the medication.
After many, many countless hours researching the side effects of the medication I was taking I came across links which mentioned reversing side effects of medications holistically. This is when the world of holistic health changed my mindset forever.
I have made up nutritious meal plans and take vitamins and supplements each day and I have never felt more happy and alive. I no longer have panic or anxiety attacks, and I have not had a depression spell in over 6 months (since I started living more healthy lifestyle). I have also switched to all organic foods and produce.
So my question is: do you believe it is more effective to seek help for some common medical issues through a doctor or is it best to change to a more healthy, holistic diet to solve these problems?

I am a medical student and i can tell u that natural therapy is the best! Try using holistic method as much as you can. Its best for you to stay away from medicines cause they might heal your anxiety and depression but can cause other problems.
Anyways Good luck!

I think the healthy, holistic diet should be the first step in any efforts to improve one's health and well-being. Then, after all efforts have been exhausted there, and there still continues to be issues, then I think it is okay to see a doctor for medicine. I don't like the fact that our society has become such that a pill is the answer to everything now, when there are other safer, healthier alternatives. Luckily, my primary care physician agrees and always uses prescription medicines as a last resort after he has tried other healthier alternatives.
