Difference Between Canadian & American Thanksgiving

I was inspired to do some research by fellow MyLot user, @montero, who asked why Canadian Thanksgiving is not celebrated at the same time as American Thanksgiving. I realized I did not know the real answer so decided to look into it and I found some interesting information! According to my research, Thanksgiving in Canada goes way back to the year 1578 in Newfoundland, when an explorer named Martin Frobisher held a ceremony of gratitude for surviving a long journey from Europe. Americans, who were led by Puritans and the Mayflower, did not start their annual tradition until the year 1621, which was 43 years later. Wow! I never knew that. Take care! It is basically the same as American Thanksgiving food - turkey, potatoes and gravy, cranberry sauce, salad, pumpkin pie with whipped cream. I don't eat turkey though because I am a vegetarian.

I think the Thanksgiving day of US is about their bountiful harvest... not quite sure about it though...

@MissNikki we don't celebrate thanksgiving day but i'm not so sure about other Filipinos here in our country. But I know for sure that we have a lot to thank about and there will always be a party for that. Another reason to get drunk...
