What was the first ever car you have driven?

My first car that i have ever driven was a 1993 Toyota Supra. I brought in from a car auction back in 2009. It was a sporty car and was very good. It had a fast acceleration speed and was low and black in colour. The only concern i had that since it was too low, whenever i over speed bumps it scratched the bumper at the front and it was noticeable. The condition i brought it in was pretty good, apart from being too low, it also had hail damage. It was all over the car. I decided of the car being too low and plus the hail damage to sell it, which i did and now i drive a silver 2006 Peugeot 307. What was your first ever car you have driven?

I started taking driving lessons at 17, the minimum age here, on a driving school's Austin Allegro in 1977. I soon realised that changing gears without looking was beyond me so I switched to driving lessons on automatics: a Mark II Ford Escort, a Honda Civic and then the Mini I eventually passed the test in.

@IlijaMarkovski I failed the first test because at that point I had rather lost interest! I passed the second test. Back in those days (1979) it was said that the automatic test was more difficult than the manual gear test because it was a more dangerous car. I remember having to reverse around a corner when there were loads of children on their way to school nearby. There was no written test back then but you had to answer Highway Code questions at the end of the test and I nearly failed on one of those!

The first one I ever drove was my husband's 1996 Ford Taurus. It was in 2004, right after I got my permit, and my mother-in-law talked me into it. I was so freaked out that I drove around the block perched on the very edge of the seat because I couldn't believe that I wasn't supposed to be able to see the front of the car from the driver's seat. A month or so later I ended up buying a 1997 Ford Taurus for myself. It was the same dark green color as my husband's, which was kind of funny. I ended up getting a 2007 Toyota Corolla a little over two years after buying that one, and my husband drove my Taurus until it threw a rod in 2007. I loved the Taurus while I had it, but honestly it was an awful car. The Corolla has been a much better vehicle for us, and not just because it was brand new when I bought it. It looks awful now, thanks to a deer running into it on the interstate, but mechanically it's in great shape. We're thinking about replacing it in the relatively near future, and if we do I'll probably be getting another Corolla.

@yukimori that's life we can't always get what we want. At least you got a car not everyone is so lucky.

Oh, and the one I have now is red... just because it was the only one they had on the lot that day that had an automatic transmission. My only condition on the car when I went in to buy was that it was any color but red.

@IlijaMarkovski I'd love to get rid of it, actually. Unfortunately public transportation in my area is nonexistent, and the community isn't bike or pedestrian friendly at all.
