Annoying Repetitive Stress Injuries

So lately I've been plagued by that hand and arm thing you get by repeating motions on the keyboard. Hand and arm cramping. For awhile I tried to learn how to type with my left hand, but that was somewhat humorous, and impossible. So that malady has attacked me lately. Online I've mostly been reading, watching shows, and sharing on Facebook. Not a lot of typing. It's much better now if I rest my arm once in awhile.
Do you ever get issues with repetitive motion? I've been attacked by this several times and so far I've been lucky to have it pass, as long as I give it periods of rest. I have worked with several people who had to have some kind of surgery for it in order to continue working.

@CinnamonGrl I think the fact that I spend most of my time in the recliner with my arms supported may help.

You'll be lucky if it escapes you entirely.

I´ve never experienced that issue. I hope I will remain active and avoid such ailments; however, no one knows when some health issue might accur.

I've been typing fifty years and on the computer for 20 so it's not surprising this kind of stuff would happen, really.

@CinnamonGrl I have done a lot of typing also, but I am lucky that I do not have this problem.

I have it too... in my thumb mostly. I really should just learn to type slower?? My thumb must hit the spacebar a zillion times an hour. Hope that you find a way to give it a rest on a regular basis.

t's much better now. I am going to take the suggestion of getting a wrist brace, though.

I don't have the pain, but my neurologist wants me to do a test to see if I have carpal tunnel syndrome based on the occasional issues I have with gripping with my right hand.
Weird how these things can have so many different symptoms, isn't it?
Have you tried to immobilize that wrist? A brace can really help.

So far I've been able to heal it by taking the time o ff the keyboard. But if there comes a time things dont' come back normally, I'll go to the doc.

When I type too much I get the same feeling in my right wrist. It can be very painful.

So far I haven't had the "pleasure" of dealing with that--though I'm sure I will one of these days. My Mom had carpal tunnel from hand sewing.

I guess I'm not on the keyboard often enough to have that happen. I never learned to type until we had a computer and never had to use one as my job. I do exercise 5 days a week so my muscles rarely give me a problem. Its sounds very uncomfortable.

I came closest to suffering from something similar when I was dong a lot of crochet. I really hated having rests from time to time and would keep on until it got really bad. It was a very silly thing to do. Once I stopped crocheting it all came good again luckily.
