Emergency Lights a few houses away

My husband had an Elks meeting tonight and I was on the phone with the tv on and heard a siren. I never got up to see what was going on and my husband came in and told me the fire engine and ambulance were a few houses from us. We went outside and could not see anything as it was so dark. We are in a senior community and we see quite a few emergency vehicles here. I hope the person or house is okay.

Hope so too... I was heading home last night when I saw the police lights from a distance away... I thought to myself that it looked like the police car was right in front of my house... Sure enough, when I got to my house, I couldn't even go in as the police car was blocking my drive way... But I knew the emergency had nothing to do with my family, it was obvious that the police stopped a driver and it just happened to be in front of my house...

Living in the boonies we very seldom hear sirens so when we do we jump up and look outside to see if which way they are gong.

@ramapo17 Having lived in the big city most of my life and hearing sirens that no one paid attention to - now they are rare and we're nosy.

@AbbyGreenhill You are right, I know exactly what you mean as I was a city girl and eventually moved to the country.

Isn't it funny how we can be settled in for the night but a siren going off can get us off the couch immediately.

Just like you, I also hope everything is ok with the person and the house. Whenever there is a siren, it makes me feel nervous that something unexpected is happening, causing the loss of property and life. Fire brigade and ambulance help people a lot in our daily life. I hope that everyone is careful in the daily use of fire or electricity for safety.
