The two go together. So which affect what? IQ helps inwriting, or writing helps in developing IQ? RESEARCH SAYS THE LATTER IS TRUE. So what are the reasons for that to be true? I have given this exercise to MBA students who came up with twenty good reasons......

i think it goes hand in hand. a writer with higher IQ definitely is able to write more sensible piece and at the same time just by writing develops his IQ as it works the brain cells.

Very true @Yadah04. The brain is like a muscle. The more you exercise it, the better it functions.

I would be interested to know some of the reasons that they came up with and what your thoughts on it are.

Hand and brain are connected. One stimulates the other. Eye and brain are connected. Reading sets off the brain. WRITING imprints thoughts into long term memory which is good for intelligence. WRITING allows us to keep records of what we thinks and helps us in research. Reading what we write can give feedback for improving our thinking. Writings can be shared with others for brainstorming and feedback. Writing helps us empty our mind to explore beyond our current thinking. Writing helps us to sort out and focus on the relevant issues Writing helps to unravel our subconscious mind and help it express. Writing helps organising thoughts into folders and topics.
