Ugly food

Well, it is pretty normal that when you go to the supermarket, you choose the fresh and good-looking fruits and veggies. A lot of us are guilty about this. Today, I saw an awareness video online about ugly food. There are actually tons and tons of food wasted over the world due to these "rejected" food. According to the food survey, 1 in 4 would NEVER eat bruised or mis-shapen fruits or vegetables. Sometimes it's just the appearance and nothing wrong with the inside. I would like to know if you would buy bruised or mis-shapen fruits or vegetables or do you choose the nicest looking ones as well?

Since a few years many of our supermarkets are offering what they call "ugly fruits" with a 30% rebate. They are not bruised, just a bit too small to be normally marketed or they have a weird shape. I can buy an apple like the one on the photo to make an applesauce or a fruit salad, but I would not put it on a fruit tray.

that's so good. the supermarkets in France are more advanced in good cause. Awareness campaigns are just starting here only. Have not seen rebates for "ugly fruits" yet. that's a cute apple with a little baby, 2-in-1

@XinfulThotz I think in supermarkets they don't display those ugly fruits already . Unless , they have it there rotting already because they don't inspect everyday .

It really depends on what I want to use the fruit for .. slightly bruised fruits and veggie are okay to use for juicing so I buy them .. sometimes over ripe fruits like strawberries can be frozen to use for smoothies or juices ..

I don't buy bruised fruits or vegetables but I have no problem buying ugly, mis shaped ones.

I think I am selfish, I will pick the best foods. If we are at home, I tend to leave the best for my child

I'm ok to buying mis-shapen fruits. It's just the case of abnormal shape. But I prefer not buying the bruised ones.
