Hurricane branches won't be picked up

The article in our local newspaper said yesterday that all the downed trees and branches will not be picked up for weeks. Each town has a lot of more serious things to deal with so the huge pile we have on our front lawn will be there for awhile.

There are a lot of places that are behind on being able to pick up all the trees and limbs after the storm. Even where I live there are so many places with piles among piles of them in peoples yards and all they can do is let it sit there. I am sure it is an eye sore but I am sure that they will get to them just as soon as they can. The Hurricane was a lot worse than some really expected it to be.

It doesn't both us as we have ridden around the water area and the roads are washed out and many huge trees down. Some places are boarded up. We even saw a beautiful sail boat on its side in the water and docks completely destroyed or under water.

@ramapo17 Oh wow....I did not realize at first that you lived in Florida...I live in North Carolina and I know that it was no where near as bad as you guys got it. I feel for everyone that was affected by this storm because it was bad. Nothing here had to be boarded up (adding in that I do not live directly on the coast but I hear on the coast where my parents use to live just a few months ago everything was washed away...).

@crazzydolphin I know North Carolina was hit bad on the coast. I know a lady down there and she said it was awful. After seeing that I cannot complain about all the down trees and beaches washed away.

After hurricane Katrina we burned the branches, trees and debris. We were able to because we live in a rural area.

That is what my husband has done with most of the branches in our yard. He still has more and a half of a tree to burn but it was easier than waiting on someone to come get them if they would and just makes for a nice little fire when it is chilly outside and my kids love it

@crazzydolphin We cannot burn anything here as we live in a senior community. In Pennsylvania we always burned trees.

The trash company are the people that pick all the brush up. We have had ours out by the road since a day after the hurricane. It is nothing compared to what happened to other people.

No, it is a senior community and the town comes and picks it up but there are so many worse areas than ours we really shouldn't complain.

Too bad you didn't know that before hand, Nancy! You could have piled them onto a tarp and moved the load of branches around every couple of days to keep the branches from killing any of your lawn... or you could just get a burn order from the city and have a nice bonfire!

@ramapo17 Yeah, after I wrote my response, I checked down part of your thread and saw where you said you aren't allowed to burn... That's too bad, Nancy! It would have been an easy and efficient way to dispose of all the limbs without causing too much more physical injuries to either of you!

@DaddyEvil You are right and nothing is nicer than a nice bonfire.
