Drum Roll Please

As many of you know I just got back from a three day vacation a few days ago. I've felt that something was different and really didn't want to get my hopes dashed by stepping on the scale. However, I bit the bullet and got the surprise of my life. During our vacation, we walked a lot. Climbed a lot of steps 630 I believe was the number I heard for the tower, but we also ate quite well in many of the different restaurants available to us. So I just stepped on the scale and you remember that on the women's retreat I had gained 6 pounds and some of it attributed to the medication I was on? Well, I'm now down 13.2 pounds from the gain I made. This makes a total weight loss of 22 pounds. I'm one happy camper.

@just4him ......Yes, I can't use the cane and it's a wheel chair for me due to the shoulder. I can't see me with a walker either.

Walking was very hard on me. I'll stick to swimming until I can do the walking a lot easier than I did on the trip. It would be great to get rid of the cane altogether. It was my companion for the whole trip.

@celticeagle There have been times when I wish I had a walker, but now I'm glad the cane is once again history.

Glad you are happy :) I would guess it was the walking even though you ate well.

I know that by experience, when I walk a lot, I have no problem with gaining a pound.

I'm sure it was combined with everything else we did over those three and a half days.

@marlina Swimming is a lot easier than all the walking we did. But it was worth it.

Wow, congratulations ! Indeed , your walking has done so much good in lowering your weight ? You mean you climbed 630 steps . My knees can't take that much already .

Daunting isn't it. I happened to hear that number after the climb when we were at a restaurant. I did well on that climb, considering I'm afraid of heights.

@SIMPLYD My knees are bad, but there are railings I could hold onto that made the climb easier.

That is wonderful news. Losing weight is never easy, but hard work makes it possible. I am trying my best as well to lose weight. I need to buy me a scale though. I found one I like. I will try and get it this week. Then I can monitor my weight better. Again, congrats on losing that much weight.

Thank you. I typically use the one at the Y when I swim, but since I wasn't there last week or this week, I took a chance with the one I have and was glad I did. Good luck on your weight loss goals.

@just4him yer correct, that swimmin'd be much kinder. but then 'gain, ya don't get all that fresh air'n eye candy that mother nature ('n mankind - still gigglin' o'er the "poopsies pots") 's to offer.

@crazyhorseladycx True, but right now I'd rather be kind to my joints than to my eyes. I can enjoy the scenery when I need to go anywhere. Sounds like you're going to have a giggle over that photo for a very long time.

Yes it is good exercise, but swimming is better, not as hard on the joints. But I'll take it any way I can get it - the weight off that is.
