No of course you dont HAVE to serve him ... but to me theres only two options... serve God or be eventually destroyed by him... dont you think that a God who created humans and everything else deserves to be worshiped the way he wants ? .. of course we have free will ... but that doesnt mean our choices wont affect what will happen to us done the road... (no i dont believe in hell .. but I do believe God will eventually distroy the wicked , including those refusing to serve him)
I think it is our obligation as humans, to find out what God wants from us & serve him.

I guess I just don't like the word "serve" ... but I do agree with you, at some point in time you have to realize that he is a part of you. And I don't think God needs to destroy anyone. The human race seems to be pretty good at doing that all on our own!

What I consider to be God, is my gut intuition of love and of right and wrong, which holds me pretty steadfastly. What i have seen of any organized religion, goes against any God that I can appreciate, so i get your point!!

I agree, I'm a Catholic but have ignored the Bible. For me God is about love, if a beggar turned up at my door I'd give him food, but I'm pretty sure a lot of mass going, Bible loving people may just wait for them to go away!
Treat others how you would like to be treated I say..:)
And religion has caused a lot of wars and hate...even in Ireland in the North there is constant tension between Catholic and Protestant residents.

I think religion will usually put the idea of God in someone's mind, but I definitely think one can believe there's a God without religion. I'm not a fan of religion and I'm in no way religious, but there has to be SOMEONE up there messing with my life!

I was raised in a religion and I was so close minded to anything else but that religion. I met my husband and he wasn't raised in a religion, he didn't even believe in God. We started reading the Bible together and I now see that there is a huge difference between God and religion. My hubby now believes in God but not religion. That is how we intend to raise our child. Give him all the tools he needs to make an informed decision, if he chooses religion, that's great, if he chooses to believe in God without religion, that's great too.

The best way to God is to love all and serve all. Not worldly, material love, but divine love, which is changeless and eternal. Love arises from the mind. Worldly love collapses, perishes and exhausts itself, whereas Divine love is changeless, limitless, and constantly renews itself. God is always with you, in you and around you so you don't need to search for him.

God is only One in the Holy Trinity, only the Orthodox-Christianity is the true religion.
All others are worng and they cannot save you....

Absolutely right! I believe in a Supreme Power, or God if you like, but would not get involved with any religion. The damage religion has done is devastating. Why we just can't keep it simple and all believe in a Supreme or Unviversal God, and respect each other, is beyond me. As John Lennon sang, "Imagine there's no religion ..."

No. Agnosticism is the state of being unsure whether God exists of not.

Yes I think so. My husband is like that. He believes there is a supreme being (with male & female characteristics) but hates religon.
