how to generate traffic for blog

I think one of the best ways is to join social networking sites like facebook, twitter, instagram and linkedin. I think pinterest also gives a huge help. I haven't tried all of them. I just have facebook and linkedin so far. I am new in blogging and hopefully learn the step by step procedure on how to grow my blog. Good luck on yours!

you can put the link to you blog in your profile. just go to settings, then edit profile.

You can list it in places. Like here for example in profile or any other places around the internet that allow it. It might be only a small step.

I haven't actually done anything to generate traffic to my blog so I can suggest anything ..

In addition to the other suggestions here, get your blog listed in free directories under appropriate categories. Also try commenting on others' blogs, on message boards, etc, where your profile includes a link back to your site.

@amitkokiladitya for example if you prefer to write on travel then join travel related facebook group with pictures and share your blog links. Do the same on linkedin as well.

@amitkokiladitya Only thing I know is sharing with your friends so they can share with their friends etc etc
