All you chefs out there - Is it possible to boil mincemeat?

I was listening to the radio today, and the DJ man was discussing how his girlfriend always boils the mincemeat in hot water to cook it when making a spaghetti meal.
However, *everyone* on the radio station started laughing, and saying how silly this was. People were encouraged to call in, but I was asleep again by that point!
So, what do you think? Is this a good way to cook the meaty stuff, or should it be illegal? :)

I didn't even know mincemeat was still made with meat.Last time I checked it was still apples and spices. Do you mean ground meat? If so, I don't see anything wrong with boiling it. I would imagine that it would be pretty flavorless. Unless it is in some kind of casing like sausage. Even so that wouldn't takes very good either.

Hi, thanks for your reply.
Yes, it's real meat. I haven't heard of the apples and spices stuff, it sounds lovely though!
