Going to the dentist

I went to the dentist a week ago, I needed a filling. It wasn't too bad, until the Novocain wore off and I discovered that my lip and the inside of my mouth was bleeding. Also my lower lip started swelling and the pain was incredible! I stopped and took a peek in a mirror and was rather upset. The assistant managed to suck my lower lip (inside my mouth) into the suction tube and tore up the area big time. I am still hurting from the visit. My lower lip is still swollen and the inside of my mouth is still VERY tender and scraped up. It makes me wish I had bitten the dentist. (Yes, I bit the dentist once. That's another story.) Anyhow, it's been nearly a week and I am still in pain....It reminds me "WHY" I hate going to the dentist.

The dentist is so expensive and yet we always come out in so much pain. You would think they would have a little more care and understanding considering they cost so much and never covered by insurance.

I guess the pain is unavoidable since your mouth is one of the most tender and sensitive parts of your body...and we use it a LOT! It's just that it is so aggravating that I have the extra pain from the visit. As I said to sishy7, I am beginning to think that the mess with my lip is from an allergic reaction, possibly to the gloves the dentist wore. Hopefully in the next few days the problem will clear up. If it doesn't I'm going to give in and call the dentist's office.

With people being so eager to sue, I can understand "WHY" the dentist didn't warn me about my mouth being torn up so badly. My lip peeled last night which didn't help pain issues either. I am beginning to think that it might have been an allergic reaction to something the dentist used. Maybe it was the gloves he had on. I have so darned many allergies that it is entirely possible that is what caused the reaction.
Fortunately I do have pain meds for other pain issues. I couldn't have accepted the meds from the dentist since my agreement with the pain clinic states that I can't get pain meds elsewhere.
Tune into my next discussion...its a riot. Look for "Shadow Strikes". I just about lost ten years off my life!
