I put the honey in the warm milk when I have badly to the throat.
The word honey seems to derive from the ittita melit. For millennia he has represented the only sugary food assembled available. The first traces of apiaries built by the man go up again to the sixth millennium AC around.
Also in ancient Egypt honey was appreciated, and the first news of apiarists that along the Nile was moved for following with her own apiaries the flowering of the plants goes up again to 4000 years ago. During the excavations of the graves of the faraonis vases of honey have tightly been recovered closed whose content was perfectly preserved. They also used it to take care of the digestive troubles and to create ointments for sore and wounds.
The sumeris employed him in creams with clay, water and oil of cedar, while the Babylonians employed him to cook: they were diffused in fact the buns done with flour, sesamo, dates and honey. In the Code of Hammurabi articles find again him with which the apiarists were protected by the theft of honey by the apiaries.
The medicine ayurvedica, considered three thousand years ago already the honey purificante, aphrodisiac, dissetante, vermifugal, antitoxic, regulator, refrigerant, stomachico and cicatrizant. For every specific case it was suitable a differnete type of honey: of vegetables, of fruits, of cereals or of flowers.
The Greek considered him "food of the gods", and therefore it represented an important component in the rites that foresaw offers votive. Humerus describes the harvest of the wild honey; Pitagora recommended him as food for a long life.
The Romans cared great Clay quantities of it, from Cyprus, from Spain and from Malta. This last also seems to derive its original name Meilat, note the honey's earth. As sweetener was used, for the production of mead, of beer as food preservative and to prepare bittersweet sauces

I love honey! We buy ours by the gallon from a local honey farmer about 7 miles away. He has several different kinds and flavors.

I don´t like honey too much, I prefer just sugar or other kind of things, but I don´t usually have honey in my house. Sometimes I use it to cook or to have a tea with lemon and honey when I have got a cold, and that helps me a lot!
