I would look for a name and address and call them if possible. Otherwise, I would turn it in to someone. It would be the manager if I find it in a store or business or the police if I find it outside.
Just put yourself in the place of whoever lost it. Also, remember, if you keep the money that karma will come around to bite you in the butt.

@amitkokiladitya Why, thank you. We have a saying that what goes around, comes around. It is the same principal as Karma.

Till the owner is back, the wallet remains with me. Though I'd sure peek in, for a clue.

And what of you don't find any clue?

I would try to figure out who it belonged to and send it to them. If there was absolutely no way to find the owner, I would send it to Samaritan's Purse, a Christian charity.
My husband found a leather satchel with several expensive items on the side of the road. He went to extraordinary lengths to find the owner, but he didn't even consider keeping it.

@amitkokiladitya If there was any form of identification in that wallet, I will go find that person. I will not keep it to myself as that's very dishonest.

This is good. I would have given it some poor if I was unable to find the owner.

Hi Dr. kokil. If I may, I'd like to pose a question. If there was identification of the owner in the wallet, it would make it easier to give back to the owner, but what do you do without the capability to track the owner? I guess one can use facebook, ask around, be a detective, but it can be difficult. I really would make every effort to find the owner.
