~Sometimes Helping Isn't Taken Nicely~

As everyone knows I absolutely love kids. I have been around little ones on a daily basis since I was a kid myself. Along the way I have learned different techniques and such that work on most kids. I'm not perfect at parenting (who is?) but some ideas work. The problem is I love helping too so sometimes I give advice that I realize later on wasn't actually wanted. I don't mean to be rude or pushy, I really am just trying to be helpful...Maybe it's not always taken that way though. Have you ever tried to help but the person got annoyed with you instead?

I'm a teacher. Of course. Parents don't want my help. They just want me to give their perfect little angels A's.

@LovingMyBabies well it is worse when they think their teenagers are. Then you know that they are totally delusional.

It is never wise to give unsolicited advice. Often you don't know enough of the facts to be able to give proper advice.....

@Morleyhunt Well when you have lived with the people for a long time you pretty much do know the facts actually.

Annoyed I can take. What I don't like is when I am scoffed at and not taken seriously while trying to help.

@Daljinder I am sure that's frustrating as well.

Yes...but my experience has been with a sibling. He thinks he knows it all...and shuts out anything anyone else is suggesting.

They may seemed annoyed at first but after they think about it they will know that you meant well whether they admit that or not.

It happens a lot. I admire you, and you do a lot of good. You are right, some people do not want help. Sometimes it is the ones who need it the most.

Yes, there are times, when I give advice or something, and it's not always appreciated. Maybe it's just the timing that is wrong. But it happens. I think it happens to everyone at least once.

Just be yourself. If its important to you to help others just remember its probably worth it to that one person that really needs it and it might make a real difference in their life. If you help just one then its probably worth it and so many people just pass on opportunities because they are unsure of the response that they might receive.

Maybe you just stated the obvious and the person felt embarrassed when they realized that.

@Juliaacv That could be. I was thinking it's a prideful thing but I'm not sure.

I know what you mean. I sent tweets to some celebs who worked with the PBS Kids cartoon Wordgirl like actress Dannah Phirman, associate producer Liz Breen and a few members of the cast. Only Dannah replied to my tweet saying "She missed doing the voice of hero." The others are still putting tigers in the gasoline tanks. It means they are not going to tweet me and give a thumbs up. Just her fans and I will take it.

@Autumnsnow I hate when it's taken that way. I guess it's a pride thing, I don't know.

It happened to me recently. The person I tried to be helpful with insisted that he didn´t need anything and that I should keep my mouth shut. I felt like if I shouldn´t had even tried to open my mouth during the time I offered him support

It is the thing parents always experiences. As a daughter, I've been angry with my mother many times. Seems like they are too much into me and my life. I want to experience things on my own, I want to learn things on my own. It is something very natural. This is how kids grow..they wanting to figure out things on their own. Let them. Don't be in between. They'll just learn, grow and be matured! Well, this is what I believe in!
