20 years we have lived here!

My home is not the best looking. No one would wish to live here. We have holes, we have leaks, we have creaks.
This place is the only place I have memory of living. I am 21 and I have lived here for 20 years.
This home has been through many changes, rearranging, people in and out, likes, dislikes, values, morals, many things have changed.
I wish to live in a better home one day, one that does not have as many cold drifts, but I love this home, I love my mom who has raised me in the home, I love the people she and I became in this home.

Lol. Your home sounds like our home.
We have put up with our home for 18 years and it also has gone through many changes.
I think all homes do at some time or other.
I am sure that you will live in a better home one day and that you will love it just as much as you love your current home.
Our love affair with our home has ended.
Its all become too much and we are moving.
Downsizing.
Will post about it when the papers are signed.

I cannot wait for the day I can actually move into a better home that is not falling apart haha. Course, most homes here now are not even 10 years old and already falling apart.

@saulgoodman wow, that is very crazy. Our house was built in the seventies.

Homes age, you can do some repairs though!
I've lived in my house for all my life - 26 years and before that my parents lived there too.
Homes don't devalue due to age! Or well, not where I live as not many new homes are being built. Actually the older homes sometimes even have better quality materials than newer homes! For instance the installation on my parents home is way better than a newer home that my boyfriends renting!

A place that is home doesn't have to be beautiful. I hope you get your better home one day. But home is a nice place to be too.

@DesirousDreamer Our old house of 17 years in the country survived strong winds, storms, bitter winters, leaks and repairs.
I admire you and your family. You, the most for the honor that you address your mother 'through thick and thin in life.' Your mom is an inspiration. You are a sweet daughter to your mom. Your home is blessed to have you in it making your home the best place in the world with your loved ones. :-)

Home is family, it is more than 4 walls and a roof.

Home will always be home no matter how old and worn down it gets. Home is where the memories are.
