Halloween Party for teenagers

Back at the end of August beginning of September I asked my daughter if she would like to have a Halloween party at the house for a group of friends. She of course said no. I asked again at the end of September beginning of October. Again the answer was no. So I was talking about it in the car on Sunday with her friend (I was coming back from taking them to the mall) and her friend was like, that would have been awesome. So now it looks like my daughter may have me throw her a Halloween Party next year. This would have been a great year for it too, as the weather was unusually warm for this time of year in Colorado. She was asking me about what I would have done and so I told her the ideas that I had for it. She is completely bummed that I didn't try and talk her into it. We live out on 3 acres on a quite dirt road. Our neighbors aren't right on top of us. I told her that we could have brought in a couple dozen bales of hay/straw, lit the big fire pit, had music and could have even set up a projector on the back side of the garage and shown a Halloween movies. Could have set up the tent and put the boys outside and the girls inside at the end of the night. I could have gotten a fog machine and gone all out with decorations. They could have carved pumpkins to take home with them the next morning. The food could have been amazing, they have all those great ideas floating around on Pinterest and Facebook. We could have fired up the BBQ and they could have roasted marshmellows and told ghost stories around the fire. I know she is at that age where she doesn't want to do things with her friends that involve mom and dad, but I can't even tell you how much I would have loved to have a party like that when I was growing up. How about you, would you have loved a party like that growing up? Would you enjoy throwing one now? I'm hoping that she decides to do it next year, Halloween has always been a favorite holiday of mine

My daughter says she is shy, but she isn't. I think she may have been afraid of inviting people and no one showing up. I told her that even if only a few people came the first year, that word would get out and more people would come the next year, lol. We aren't on a farm, but most of the neighbors have farm animals. We probably won't while the youngest is still home, she becomes to attached to the animals. Now when she leaves, well we are getting a cow or 2.

I am not that into Halloween, it kind of freaks me out that we celebrate the dark and spooky sorts!

I'm truly sorry to hear that. Growing up I always wanted fancier costumes and to go to Halloween parties, but it didn't happen. I have always tried to make Halloween for my kids fun, we decorate with semi-scary things, but it's about having fun. We only have one child left at home and she turned 13 a few months ago. I'm not into the really scary stuff, but I like the look of being scary-fun.
