Day 58 Proverbs 12:8 Proverbs 12:8 A man shall be commended according to his wisdom: but he that is of a perverse heart shall be despised. Everyone enjoys listening to someone who makes sense in what they say. Conversely, they despise someone who tries to make a person believe what they are saying. For months now you have been inundated with perverse thinking through the many political ads seen and heard in the media. You know what you are listening to whether it is true or not. It isn’t just politics, but it is everything you encounter every day of your life. People will do whatever they can to persuade you to their truth. Whether it is the food you need to eat, sports, religion, shopping, exercise. How do you discern the truth from everything you hear? Solomon showed that people who display wisdom in their actions would be commended, while those who used any method they could to con people would be despised. How do you discern the truth from everything you hear? As Christians, you have the power of the Holy Spirit to discern the truth from everything that is being said and done. If you don’t know what to do or believe, pray. Prayer is your first line of defense against Satan who will do whatever he can to cause you to believe the lies he tells. You know when something doesn’t sound right. Stop what you are doing and pray, and God will show you the truth of the matter. Jesus told the people truth would set them free. He was talking about the truth that he was the Son of God, their Messiah. However, when you take into consideration that truth itself has the power to set you free of everything in your life, no matter what it is, you can apply this truth to your life as well. John 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. (KJV) You will be able to discern what you hear and will act accordingly. When you do, Satan will have no power over you and he will slink away in defeat. The next time someone says something to you, let the Holy Spirit discern the truth of the matter and you will never go wrong. Let’s pray: Father, help me discern the truth in everything I hear every day. Let your Holy Spirit stop me when I hear something that doesn’t line up with the truth. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.
