It seemed as though this day would never arrive, but it has at last. I had my jacket on and was just about to set off for Manchester when I received a call on my mobile phone. To my delight it was the optician informing me that my new glasses were ready.
Needless to say I went there instead of the city centre and collected the glasses. It makes a vast difference wearing prescription glasses again and everything is much clearer.
It did seem a little odd having glasses again after a long period without, but certainly an improvement.
Now that my eyesight is clearer I may have to throw out my mirrors.

CONGRATULATIONS!!! As for the mirrors, they are evil creatures.

@Asylum I know! They were kind of nice ages ago, when I was young.

@marguicha , yes, i agree with you, mirrors are bad, bad creatures. They should be destroyed, banned from this earth.

@hereandthere The price is always of paramount interest. I do not mind paying for what I get, but do not want to pay unrealistic prices.

@Asylum prices are very important. you wouldn't want to be surprised when it's time to pay.

LOL, that's exactly what I'm dreading...looking into the mirror when my vision is improved.

@blitzfrick You say that, yet you have never been brave enough to look at my mirror.

How did you feel physically when you first started wearing them.
I normally feel a little spacey for a while and this time (after 5 years of no eye tests) my prescription jumped a bit and I even felf funny walking for a while

@paigea I've worn glasses since I was a kid but get weird feelings when I get new glasses.

I'm so accustomed to mine I often fall asleep wearing them.

@Jeanniemaries I can wear bifocals but the varifocal lenses were impossible to tolerate.

@Asylum It's been about that long for me. I started out with a regular over the counter pair for distance and then when my close up vision started deteriorating I bought a stronger pair of half glasses and left them on top of my head, pulling them down over my originals as needed. My family was always poking fun at me, begging me to get bifocals. but I was happy with the arrangement, However when it was clear I needed trifocals I did go and get them. I was used to strong color lines using two pair of glasses so the tiny lines inside the triple lens didn't bother me in the least and I was surprisingly very happy with just one pair of glasses I could wear all the time.
