Will you travel without your children?

Several days ago I learned that my son's classmate's mother had a travel with her friend in South Korea. I was a little surprised to see that because I wondered how she could leave when her son had to go to school. I will feel guilty to do so. As I have a good time but my son will have a hard time. And what he will think about it? This is why even if the flights and hotels are much more expensive in holidays and vacations, I still have to travel at that time with my son. This is the time he can have the break and have a good time.

I agree. When my child grows up, of course he can travel by himself and I can be free to go anywhere, too

i think the mother want to share her own time with friends, time with children always not easy and free, she want to relax herself .

This kind of relaxation is somewhat a little irresponsible in my opinion.

I think if people think ahead they could do this. Have their child stay with whomever a few times for your purposed trip so he is used to it. I would hate to have to travel without the kids during the holidays. I don't think I would do that.

@youless .....If it was a fun trip. If it was business or something else perhaps the child should stay home. Especially if the parent knew of no safe place to keep the child while she did the business.

We always take our kids with us . . . we only take family vacations. But I do know couples who will have someone else watch their kids while they go on some lovely vacation - oh, we would feel too guilty to do this!

I don't have any kids - but I know some who travel without their kids for work. Or even pleasure as they can't take the kids out of school for the amount of duration they're traveling for. I hope they have a good reason to travel without their kids though..

If it is a business trip, I can understand it. Since parents need to make a living anyway. But as to a tourism travel, it is different. I really can't enjoy it when my child is not with me. We shall share the joy of travel together.

@youless Yes you bet! I don't have kids but I wouldn't leave them if I did. But sometimes if the child is in upper grade school they may have to, if it's important but for pleasure and the child is under 18 - I don't think that's right

@HAPPSINGH no kids can't relate! But if I had a personal choice I wouldn't travel without my child / children unless it is important and I don't have a choice

Every culture have different ways for showing care.. Maybe there it is still a caring gesture?! We here don't leave children alone till the age of 14..afterwards, its their choice, if they want the parent's company..fine.. If not..okay!

I have never traveled anywhere without my kids. I would not have a good time without them, I would be worrying about them the whole time if I did that.

I never went anywhere without my children when they were young. I always thought vacations were for the family.

When my children were still young, I also travel most of the time to attend seminars or symposiums. But I really make sure that there is somebody whom I trust to take care of them while I am away...

Yes there are many who travel alone leaving the kids behind...for me it is unacceptable... I can't imagine myself having fun alone with my kid sitting back at home... As for a family vacation without my child and husband does not exist at all
