This is my bad day. I left my purse at home with some money in it. I just rushed to my workplace this morning, and forgot to take it on my make-up table. Now, it's time for having lunch. At first, I planned to buy some meals at the canteen, but then I realized I don't bring my purse. I'm not comfortable to borrow some money from my friends. Luckily I found I0,000 IDR in the pocket of my bag. It is around 1 dollar. Then with that amount of money, I can buy only a cupcake for my lunch. I don't have to worry about the drink as I always bring a bottle of mineral water with me. Thanks God, finally I can have my lunch which costs only $1. In your country, what can $1 buy for lunch?

Here, I can get a snack of chips or chocolate bar or pop tarts from the vending machine for 90 cents. That's about it. Unless I will go to the dollar store and see what they have for food there.

@hereandthere Sometimes they do, and it's always a hit and miss. If all else fail it is much better to get some good, honey crisp apples for lunch, at least that's what I will do.

Street vendors? What street foods do you like to buy? I think you should only eat home cooked meals.

I'm glad you were able to buy something to put in your stomach. What can we buy hear for $1? If I go to my local convenience store, I can get a hot dog. Otherwise, probably just smaller snacks like chips or cookies.

@Ayuriny It's just at the local convenient store; if I was out of my hometown, I'd have to stick with junk food lol. And you're welcome.

With a $1 - I can get snacks like chips, granola bar or candy. At the cafeteria at my previous company, I could probably buy a slice of bread and get complimentary jam.

Here everything's price increases, it is not easy to buy a lunch with $1. You can't even have a bowl of noodles in a small restaurant. Perhaps it is OK to buy a bread anyway Or you can buy the instant noodles and it shall work well

Same here. We can't buy complete meals for lunch for $1. All prices of food have increased significantly. Therefore it's only bread or cupcake is affordable.

as of today 1 us dollar is 48.55 philippine pesos. 1 cup of rice is 10 pesos and 1 ulam (ex. pork dish) is 35 pesos so that's a total of 45 pesos only.

Haash you had that money at least.. In our country, it depends on the place we go. There are cheap places which could give you manyyy things from 1$ and there is medium rate from which maybe we could get one item like cupcake. But, the costly category, nothing could be bought.
